Dacia

Duster
This all-new third-generation Dacia Duster is arguably the best yet, not only from a design perspective but also in terms of build quality and on-road performance. The overall size has hardly changed, but the interior has moved up a notch, with more digitalisation and even more practical features. Without losing sight of its affordable DNA, the engines include a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.6-litre hybrid. For cost-conscious buyers, the Duster ticks the rugged SUV box without breaking the bank.

despite being larger than the Duster, the Bigster doesn’t have a seven-seat option

Bigster
In a potential case of automotive nominative determinism, the Bigster is the bigger sibling to the hugely successful Dacia Duster. It uses similar underpinnings and the same engines that include a 155hp hybrid but with increased interior space for passengers and luggage. However, despite being larger than the Duster, the Bigster doesn’t have a seven-seat option. It also sees Dacia move a little more upmarket by offering plusher interior options and larger alloy wheels.

Jogger
Following initial critical acclaim, the Dacia Jogger has been selling well in Ireland, appealing to those that need lots of space for not a lot of money. The vehicle layout is a little unusual in that it packs seven spacious seats into an estate-car-like body that’s raised up for increased ground clearance. The result is that it’s wonderfully comfortable on long journeys and incredibly versatile. Those that find the entry-level petrol model lacking will be glad of the newer hybrid version that mixes increased performance with decent economy.

Sandero
The Sandero is a modest five-door hatchback, but there’s nothing modest about its sales success. It would seem that buyers really get its no-nonsense approach, where a spacious cabin is paired with an affordable price tag. Then again, people also seem more than willing to pay a little extra to get the (slightly) more rugged-looking Stepway version. It’s just as comfortable as the standard car and its built-in roof rails are eminently useful.
