PEUGEOT

3008

A popular choice for families, the Peugeot 3008 received a complete redesign in 2024. The result was head-turning looks and a highly contemporary cabin featuring broad, floating digital instrumentation and attractive upholstery options. Diesel engines are dropped, but there’s the choice of petrol
mild-hybrid or a fully electric powertrain, the latter of which will include a larger battery model with nearly 700km of driving range. Despite its coupe-SUV silhouette, the 3008 remains practical and spacious inside.

5008

With its striking looks and high-quality interior, the latest seven-seat Peugeot 5008 would be a strong SUV contender already – but it bolsters its case by having a swish electric variant called the E-5008. This has an official range of from 500km to 700km-plus on the big-battery model, but its main appeal is that it’s incredibly refined and comfortable to drive. If you prefer, the 5008 is available in hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms.

208

The Peugeot 208 remains one of the best-looking superminis on the market despite launching way back in 2019. A mildly facelifted version arrived in 2024, but that only sharpened the look up without dramatically reinventing it. Inside, the ‘i-Cockpit’ dashboard layout looks just as striking, but it’s the high-quality fittings, fixtures and materials in use that will wow potential buyers in a showroom. Then it’s just a case of choosing petrol, mild-hybrid or electric power. The latter is the most impressive on the road – and the most powerful – but alas, also a bit expensive.

308

We urge anyone considering buying the sharp-suited Peugeot 308 to resist the temptation to go for the default five-door hatchback and instead choose the SW estate as it takes the arresting design one step further with an elegantly elongated roof. Plus of course it’s way more spacious in the boot. From the driver’s perspective there’s little difference between them, obviously, and the 308 is a competent car on the road. Diesel, fully electric, and mild-hybrid petrol power options are offered to cover a range of needs.

408

The Peugeot 408 needs more introduction than most cars from the French brand, as it’s a daring-looking five-door fastback with crossover vibes. As its numbering suggests, it sits between the 308 and 508 in terms of interior space and pricing. All versions are automatic and front-wheel-drive, including the 130hp petrol option and 180hp plug-in hybrid. Expanding the 408’s electric capabilities in 2025 is the arrival of a new, fully electric model, the E-408, with an official range of up to 453km.

508

The Peugeot 508 may be getting on, but it’s aging gracefully and it’s still an alluring car. Offered in stylish fastback and even more stylish SW estate body styles, this car sort of occupies the D-segment space previously reserved for so-called ‘repmobiles’. The 508 is far more interesting than any of those were, however, inside and out. These days, buyers choose from a mix of diesel and plug-in hybrid power.

2008

This is one of our favourite compact crossovers on the market – and that’s saying something when you realise just how many of the things there are. The 2008 fits into Peugeot’s lineup kind of between the 208 and 308 hatchbacks, though many will see its raised ground clearance and SUV-like styling as of higher status than either. If that’s you, then you’ll consider the 2008 to be terrific value. The electric model is pretty decent, though not cheap to buy, which makes the petrol versions the pick of the lineup in truth. They have loads of personality as well.

E-Rifter

The Peugeot Rifter is based on the underpinnings of the Partner van, so it was designed to be practical from the off, with a large tailgate, loads of boot space, and enough interior width to accommodate three individual seats in the second row. Parents with lots of kids will love it, but so will anyone with a hobby that involves lugging bulky items around the place. The 343km range is ample for most people, and there’s a diesel version of the Rifter available to convert into a wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
