POLESTAR

Polestar 2

The Polestar 2 was the Swedish brand’s first fully electric car and indeed, until 2024, the only car it had for sale. The arrival of new headline-grabbing models hasn’t dulled its shine, however, partly due to reduced pricing, but also because it’s simply an excellent car. For 2025 an update to the 2 arrives, with the adoption of more efficient motors and longer ranges (up to 659km) on a charge. The single-motor model moves from front- to rear-wheel drive as well, giving it a slightly sportier feel, but the Polestar 2 remains a stylish, comfortable and high-quality EV. It’s so good our editor bought one for himself…

Polestar 3

To the uninitiated, Polestar’s naming strategy could be a little confusing, as the numbers relate to the order the cars were launched in, not their pecking order in the lineup. The Polestar 3 actually sits above the 4 in terms of pricing and size, for example, and though it looks compact enough in images thanks to its design, see it in the metal and you’ll soon understand that this car could be a rival to the likes of the Range Rover Sport and others. The Polestar 3 is a distinctly sporty take on the SUV formula, but one with an appealing high-tech vibe, a spacious and high-quality cabin, and impressive electric powertrains. How does an official range of up to 760km grab you? Probably not as strongly as the 517hp all-wheel-drive option.

Polestar 4

At first, everyone focuses on the lack of a rear window in the Polestar 4. It’s a daring move from the marque, but it doesn’t take long behind the wheel of this coupe-SUV to get used to the digital rear-view mirror, and anyway, there’s so much else good in this car that you soon forget about the unusual design. That aside we think the Polestar 4 looks stunning, and the five-seat cabin is just as impressive, with plenty of space and a decent boot behind. The Performance model puts out up to 544hp to all four wheels thanks to its two electric motors, while the model most buyers will go for has an official range of up to 620km.
